Type 1 vs. Type 2: Why 95% of Tech Recruitment Fails Your Roadmap

Type 1 vs. Type 2: Why 95% of Tech Recruitment Fails Your Roadmap

If you’re a CTO interviewing a recruitment partner for a senior role, which version are you actually talking to?

Type 1 Partners (95%): They ask about tech stacks and "years of experience." They talk about their database size and how many LinkedIn ads they’ll run. They promise "CV volume."

Type 2 Partners (5%): They ask about business outcomes and team friction. They talk about strategic interception. The problems you have and what's causing them. They don't use ads because they already spend their days networking with the top 10% of tech professionals. They tell you who is excelling at your direct competitor before you even ask.

Here is the reality of the market right now:
If you hire a Type 1 partner, you are paying for an expensive admin assistant. You will spend 10+ hours a week filtering through "average" CVs, and after 6 months, you’ll likely settle for a candidate who was just "the best of a bad bunch." Your roadmap will stay stalled.

If you hire a Type 2 partner, you are buying an insurance policy for your roadmap. You won’t see 50 CVs; you’ll see 3 pre-vetted A-Players who weren't even looking for a job until we showed them your mission.

The best talent isn't looking for you....they’re already thriving at your competitors.

Type 1 partners wait for them to click "apply." Type 2 partners go and get them.
