Would you like to get a feel for what freelancing is all about?

The recent massive layoffs in the big tech companies have forced us to rethink our concepts of 'jobs'. What does this mean for us, and how can we take advantage of new opportunities? For some people, back to a full time permanent employment job might be the ideal solution. This type of work provides stability, employee benefits, and a sense of community/belonging. But it's important to remember that a permanent job is not the only option.

In the digital age, there are so many ways to create a career that works for you. Freelancing is a great option for many professionals. Not only can it provide a higher income, but you get to be your own boss, learn new skills, have very varied work, varied projects, different and latest technologies, meet new people (who can always be invaluable to learn from) and experience a form of freedom. One of the key advantages is the flexibility that freelancing gives you. If you have childcare commitments or are conscious of work-life balance, you can accept assignments that fit within your own available hours, the length of your work day, and where you work. Of course, you can also land a freelance assignment that is 9 – 5, Monday to Friday (but at a higher income). Some contract assignments have some really good longevity too. You could be working on one for years, if you and the client are both happy to continue. It’s up to you!

Freelancing can be a great way to develop your skills, gain experience, and build your own business. So, if you’re looking for a career path that’s flexible and provides you with the opportunity to learn, expand your client portfolio, increase your own value and earn more money, then consider freelancing.
