AI Engineer, Zurich

Based in Zurich. Permanent employment basis, Hybrid - 3 days home office
You will work on behalf of our client, a pioneering Swiss AI provider specializing in secure, high-compliance software. They develop model-agnostic generative AI and privacy-focused platforms for regulated sectors like healthcare and public administration. This is an opportunity to join an innovative team blending cutting-edge LLMs with world-class Swiss data security standards.
As the new AI Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in testing, evaluating, and operationalizing large language models. You will handle the full lifecycle, from rapid prototyping and prompt workflows to building robust evaluation frameworks. Joining a collaborative, fast-paced startup, you will work closely with full-stack and infrastructure teams to transform state-of-the-art models into reliable, production-ready systems
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Designing and maintaining evaluation frameworks for LLM performance, reliability, and safety
- Building automated testing suites, benchmark datasets, and model evaluation pipelines
- Improving LLM behavior through prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and experimentation
- Collaborating with software and infrastructure engineers on AI integrations and backend services
- Monitoring model performance and contributing to MLOps and model lifecycle management
Other requirements:
- 3–5+ years of experience within AI, Machine Learning, or Applied NLP Engineering
- Strong practical experience working with LLMs in production environments
- Strong Python engineering skills
- Experience with PyTorch and/or TensorFlow
- Exposure to RAG systems, agentic workflows, or AI tooling frameworks
- Fluent in German and English
