Permanent employment basis. Hybrid role - 3 days home office per week

You will lead the engineering efforts for a market-leading European ERP provider. This is a pivotal role for a strategic leader ready to modernize a core industry platform and guide a talented, international team through a major technological evolution.

As the new Head of Development, you will hold overall responsibility for the software lifecycle, from initial conception to international delivery. Your primary mission is to steer the transition from a legacy Delphi environment to a modern, scalable C# .NET tech stack. Leading a cross-functional department of 55 engineers across Germany, Sweden, and Austria. You will be the bridge-builder who unites diverse cultures under a high-performing, product-oriented engineering mindset.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Strategy & Architecture: Define the technology roadmap and lead the Architecture Board to ensure standards for scalability, security, and performance.
  • Modernisation: Drive the migration from legacy fat-client systems to a modern service-based architecture.
  • Leadership: Directly lead team leads and senior engineers, fostering a culture of psychological safety, ownership, and continuous learning.
  • Delivery Governance: Oversee the entire SDLC, including CI/CD automation and secure coding practices, to ensure predictable, high-quality releases.
  • Stakeholder Management: Work closely with Sales, Support, and Professional Services to align development with customer needs and margin targets

Other requirements:

  • Experience: At least 8 years in software development, with a minimum of 4 years in a multi-team leadership role.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of the Microsoft ecosystem (Azure, SQL Server, .NET) and experience transitioning legacy systems to modern stacks.
  • Language: Native or professional fluency in German (B2/C1+) is essential; English is required for collaboration with international teams.
  • Soft Skills: Proven ability to gain team trust, navigate cultural differences, and lead with a pragmatic, data-driven approach.

What the company offers:

  • Market Leadership: Join an established leader entering a high-growth international phase.
  • High Impact: This isn't just "maintenance"; you will make the critical architectural decisions that define the company's future.
  • Stability & Growth: Backed by a major investment group, offering the resources of a large organisation with the flat hierarchies of a specialised tech firm.
